Michael Levin, MD
Dr. Levin attended Ohio State University, receiving an undergraduate degree in
psychophysiology in 1975 and his M.D. in 1978. An internship in orthopedic
surgery was completed at the University of Cincinnati followed by a residency in
Anesthesiology at the University of California at Davis from 1980 to 1982. From 1982
until 1992 Dr. Levin practiced anesthesiology at American River Hospital,spending 3 years
as chairman of the department. He returned to the University of California at
Davis in 1992 to become the first person to complete a one-year fellowship in acute,
chronic and cancer pain management.
He is Board Certified by the American Society of Anesthesiologists and has a Subspecialty
Certification in pain management, and has been in private practice in pain management
since 1993.
Dr. Levin also serves as the Medical Director for the Functional Restoration
Center, a full time pain rehabilitation program for injured workers.
In his spare time, he enjoys hiking, mountain biking and road biking.
Practice includes:
Epidural and transforaminal steroid injections
Lumbar sympathetic blocks
Stellate ganglion blocks
Peripheral nerve blocks
Facet join and medial branch blocks
Radiofrequency neuroablative procedures
Lumbar discography
IDET and nucleoplasty
Spinal cord stimulator trials and implants
Intraspinal narcotic and baclofen pumps

My Web Review
Michael Levin MD
I have had the opportunity of being under the care of Michael Levin MD since April
of 2004 which was upon referral from Michael Uro DPM. I am quite confident that I
am in the hands of a well educated and experienced man.
Having researched and reviewed his credentials, I have come to the conclusion that
the man is brilliant.
Perhaps his bedside manner is abrupt and unfriendly at times, (as a previous reviewer
added) but his overall demeanor is professional and reliable. I cannot recall a single
unpleasant incident for which I would then hesitate to attend follow-up visits.
Although, he has made me cry on more than one occasion it was in my best interest
that he did whether intentional or not. In additon, my overall impression, opinion and
rating of Dr. Michael Levin, the Sacramento Pain Clinic and the Sacramento Pain
and Diagnostic Treatment Center is that of 5 stars of excellence in the area of
treatment and patient care.
